Communication, marketing & guest relations

I am Karoline, based in Aarhus, Denmark. I am volunteering as the SoMe manager, helping in on communication, marketing and international guest relations. I have too been contributing to business development as well as graphic design making.

Alongside my volunteer role, I study global history & history of ideas at Aarhus University, and work as a Programme and Event Coordinator at Folkeuniversitetet, where I coordinate public lectures and events that make university knowledge accessible to a wider audience.

Through extensive travelling and roadtripping around Uganda and Africa, and my friendship with Johnson, I have gained some good knowledge about East Africa that I would like to share with new travellers. I hope guests of Makune will feel informed, welcomed and confident throughout their journey.

Kyahuhaire Janet

Tour Operations & Reservations Coordinator

Janet oversees the planning, coordination, and day-to-day management of tour operations.

With extensive experience in accounting, operational planning, and tour organization, she ensures every journey is carefully coordinated from the initial booking through to its successful completion.

Working closely with accommodation providers, guides, transport partners, and guests, Janet ensures that every itinerary is efficiently managed while reflecting Makune Journeys' values of quality, flexibility, and authentic local hospitality.

Said Musa Mutegeki

Ecology & Conservation Manager

Musa is a certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner and a Global Biodiversity Standard (TGBS) Assessor and Trainer based in Fort Portal, Uganda.

With over a decade of experience in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration, Musa has led forestry, agroforestry, and ecological restoration initiatives across Uganda's landscapes.

His expertise includes biodiversity assessments, threatened species conservation, invasive species management, ecological restoration planning, and capacity building for conservation practitioners.

At Makune, Musa ensures that conservation and responsible tourism are integrated into our operations, supporting travel experiences that contribute to protecting Uganda's natural heritage while benefiting local communities.

Alongside his role at Makune Journeys, Musa serves as the Research and Conservation Manager and Uganda Programme Coordinator for the Global Biodiversity Standard (TGBS) at Tooro Botanical Gardens.
